Future Of Renewable Energy In U.S

With increasing levels of innovation in energy technology bringing us to 2020, the world has begun an important transformation, but instead of changing from different fossil fuels like coal and gas, society now turns to the sun and other natural means for its power. The question remains about what the immediate and future role of renewable power will look like in the U.S.

Forbes shows that the likely case remains for now a domination of fossil fuels, and chief among them natural gas, which is set to exceed 50% of America’s energy need by 2050. This is because of our limited ability to fully implement renewable energies and the massive costs that would follow such a quick and massive change. A U.S Department of Energy backed study found that a quicker change to renewable sources is currently feasible, concluding that up to 80% of our power can be comfortably covered by 2050, given more flexibility in the power supply system.

Though energy sources like solar and wind may continue to take around 17% of our nation’s energy capacity for the next few years, it will certainly grow as we become even more capable of implementation and homeowners can make good use of current federal and state tax credits to take advantage of the money saving opportunities renewable energy offers us now.
