| Summary: Western Massachusetts Electric (WMECO) provides technical assistance and financial incentives to customers who implement energy efficiency upgrades to their commercial or industrial facilities through the Small Business Energy Advantage Program. Through the program, there are no up-front costs to the customer, WMECO pays up to 35% of the eligible energy efficient measures, and because the zero percent interest loan is based on the estimated energy savings, the customer’s monthly energy bills remain the same until the loan is paid in full. Once the loan is paid in full, the customer enjoys lower monthly energy bills. All business customers with an average billing demand between 11 kilowatts (kW) and 200 kW are eligible for this program, although WMECO places emphasis on those customers with demand less than 50 kW. The program is designed for business customers who do not have the resources or in-house expertise to analyze and then modify their energy use on their own. |
