Wind Power in Colorado Ahead of the Game

With new standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for CO2 emissions from power plants, Colorado is in a good spot as one of the top 10 states for reductions in emissions.

This is mostly due to Colorado’s use of wind energy. With more wind turbines providing electricity, they have successfully dropped their greenhouse gas emissions by 14 percent over the past few years.

The Denver Business Journal reports:

And Colorado, because of its efforts to add renewable power to the state’s energy portfolio, already is among the top 10 states in the nation in terms of the volume reductions of carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, according to a paper from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), a trade group for the wind industry based in Washington, D.C.

It will remain to be seen how many other states follow suit.
