Program Details:
The Mid-Sized Renewable Standard Offer Program for those who are a part of the TVA in Alabama is for customers with generators from 200kW to 20MW. The program is for the following renewable energies: Biodiesel, Anaerobic Digestion, other forms not producing pollution or greenhouse gases, Biomass, Landfill Gas, Wind and Photovoltaic. The sectors that qualify are the Industrial, Schools, Local Government, Construction, Tribal Government, Agricultural, Institutional, Retail Supplier, Systems Integrator, Federal Government, Nonprofit, Residential, State Government and Commercial. The offer is for generators off of a seasonal time-of-day average chart to set the base price for the terms of the contract. The prices increase at a rate of 3% per year. The Base Price Average is $.05611 per kWh during the daytime (ave. $.0561 per kWH) with an annual tariff of $.06145 per kWh. The performance based incentive will continue for 20 years.
This program is in place to encourage the installation of renewable generation systems. The TVA will purchase your electricity output at a premium of 12 cents per kWh above the current electricity rate. The power company will issue credits to you or payment for the excess credits which will be issued to you on a monthly or annual basis at the discretion of the power company. In addition you will receive a $1,000 to offset some of your upfront costs. The size of your system needs to output from 500 to 2,000 Watts. Of course your metering installation must be agreed upon by the TWA or approved party.
