Mississippi Moves up in Energy Efficiency

Mississippi has been rated toward the bottom when comparing utilities providers’ energy efficiency programs, but that all seems to be changing with eight new plans being implemented for both residential and commercial customers.

The new energy incentives are expected to begin in late 2014.

From Fierce Energy:

Mississippi Power’s new programs include: Residential Energy Audit and Direct Install; Residential and Commercial Air Conditioning Tune-Up and Replacement; Small Business Direct Install and Incentive; School Kits and Education; Residential and Business Lighting; Large Commercial and Industrial Prescriptive and Custom; Neighborhood Efficiency; and Behavioral Analysis.

"We expect more than half of our customers to take advantage of Mississippi Power’s new energy efficiency programs," Chad Ihrig, market principal for Mississippi, said. "The new suite of programs has been designed to encourage smart energy use through education and low-cost energy savings steps such as installing compact florescent light bulbs, and having an air conditioner tune-up performed."
